Industrial Hygiene OHTA Module W-501 Measurement of Hazardous Substance


Risk assessment and exposure monitoring is fundamental to the practice of Industrial Hygiene 

The aim of the w-501 course is to provide attendees with a sound understanding of the techniques for identifying and assessing exposure to hazardous substances in the workplace.  It will also assist with understanding of how exposure information can be used to assess health risk.


Learning Objectives

Upon successful completion, attendees will be able to:

  • Perform IH risk assessments
  • Identify chemical exposures during various industrial processes
  • Develop appropriate exposure monitoring strategies
  • Select standard methods and proper equipment to perform industrial hygiene sampling
  • Interpret exposure monitoring results, develop professional IH reports, and make informed decisions

Upon Completion:

  • Participants will receive a certificate of competency from the BOHS after passing the exam
  • Participants will earn 40 contact hours of formal industrial hygiene training which may be applicable towards qualification to sit for the Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) examination
  • Receive a bonus presentation titled “You Should Be a CIH”
